Funny to me how so often the very thing we reject is often what God uses to bring light to a situation.

For example in Mattew 13:54-58

They couldn’t see past the person of Jesus, to see that God the Father chose to use the simplest things of this world to confound the wise. Laid out right before them, yet they failed to believe. Because of that unbelief, they rejected salvation and missed Jesus Christ.

For example in Luke 7:18-25 Jesus himself gives the seal of approval upon John the Baptist, but in verse 33 states clearly, they said He has a demon! In My Bible, the title of the scripture is fitting “An Unresponsive Generation.”

There are so many more stories of Jesus and rejection, I have even read multiple outcomes that come from rejection. All are fascinating to me, really!

But quite often the rejection of Jesus follows with Jesus leaving or moving that particular person away from the unbelief. His presence gone, not because He wanted to, but because He won’t force us to receive Him.

Here is my thought on what is the real tragedy of unbelief and what it reaps in our lives. It naturally divides and leaves a hole the size of Texas in its wake. Now everyone agrees the enemy is the accurate divider, but sometimes rejection of Jesus and unbelief draw a boundary, a wall so to speak that God won’t break through until you simply believe in Him. No one can force you too, God can send so many gifted teachers, preachers your way but until you are ready to surrender to simply believing Jesus; nothing will change.

The definition of insanity is:

Definition of insanity
1 dated: a severely disordered state of mind usually occurring as a specific disorder
2 law: unsoundness of mind or lack of the ability to understand that prevents one from having the mental capacity required by law to enter into a particular relationship, status, or transaction or that releases one from criminal or civil responsibility
3a: extreme folly or unreasonableness
the insanity of violence
His comments were pure insanity.
b: something utterly foolish or unreasonable

You see the second part of that definition? The Lack of the ability to understand…??? The lack of having capacity???
Those spoke to me because I think our faith walk sometimes requires the capacity and the understanding of Jesus, to believe God at His word, even when it looks like there is no way!

Here is the thing for any Christian anything but Jesus should look insane! I found myself reading these stories in scripture thinking that is insane??? Why couldn’t they see Jesus! He was right there!! Giving them all the clues and indicators but they rejected Him because they could not perceive that God could be using something so ordinary to unlock a miracle in our lives, a powerful work. To me, that was the definition of insanity! Extreme folly or unreasonableness. In Luke 4:16 might I add to expound on Matthew 13: 54-58 was Jesus second time go around with them. They rejected Him the first time, and it led to insanity…They wanted to throw Jesus off a cliff! Driven to the insanity of violence! But Jesus being Jesus came back around, and the people still missed it, because of the folly of their unbelief.

Here is my question, what is God coming to us over and over with? What problem, sin, relationship, debt…Keeps coming up because it is unresolved and because we have just failed to see or believe that God can do a mighty work and miracle in our lives. We just have to take Him as Jesus, we just have to take Him at His word. That is not insanity that is faith ❤

Lord, help us with our unbelief, help us to see you even when it is dark, and we feel alone. Help us, to be full of faith and trust you. Even when the step is unknown. In Jesus name, I pray, Amen.
