I have thought long and hard about what I am going to say. I am praying that people would receive this in love but truth. I am not implying all churches when I am referring to “the church” I am referring to the family of God the whole body of believers; just to make that clear. Something is happening to the body of Christ, and honestly, I have just been in tear’s all morning. I see the compromise of God’s Word, I see hatred, I see blindness, I see the gospel being preached but little or no grace is coming with that. The Holy Spirit is where the grace of God is activated. Christ’s spirit has been given to enable us to live GRACE.
We fail as the body to teach about the Holy Spirit effectively. I am no expert, believe me, many godly men are gifted to teach on the Holy Spirit and His active role in the divine Trinity. We make confessions and creeds of the Holy Spirit in our song’s, and we read about the marvelous works the Holy Spirit enabled the early church to do. We have no support whatsoever in scripture; Believe me, I have searched diligently praying and asking the Holy Spirit to reveal to me where in scripture these gifts located in (1 Corinthians 12) through the Holy Spirit have been extinguished and boxed up and died with the execution of the Apostle Paul.
This is where I believe and many other’s who are frightened to say anything or ask the hard questions because of fear of fellow man. Life throws us hard situations with the hard question’s to ask. It is not to quarrel; it is not to be defensive, but it is to engage our minds, hearts, and souls back to the Word of God and stand firmly on the Word. This is the point of the Holy Spirit to engage in question’s and answer’s and also in just an ordinary relationship listen, laugh, and cry. But something strange and wrong is happening to the beautiful body of Christ. Somewhere along the line, we have accepted a lie spurred not by people but by dark and evil forces that God does not do or use the Holy Spirit in this way ( I have enough reverent fear in my body to be 100 percent confident of that) I am reminded of Hebrews 10:31). We believe what a man believes and says over what our King and Savior says in the Word.
We have justified not following the Word of God to the letter because we are super quick to defend and argue our truth. We sadly break down the Word because we are justifying and hiding from the Spirit of truth and well when you do that you grieve, stifle, push away the Holy Spirit, so His leading in your life so distant. I am not saying I don’t get it wrong because honestly, I do. I believe we all do at certain times. I will never forget where Jesus rescued me from. Jesus, keeps that part of my heart very tender and keeps me very aware. Not to harm me but to spur me to help the brokenhearted, to be soothing and comforting to a hurting heart. I can not do this! I in my flesh am not a right person. I can be sweet and kind and loving only through the Helper, The Counselor, The Holy Spirit. That is what sets us apart church. We are so depraved in our flesh, utterly wicked and wrong. We can not think good, act good, be good, love properly, serve correctly, evangelize effectively, teach effectively without The Holy Spirit.
The scriptures say so much about The Holy Spirit being a part of the Godhead. Sadly the Body of believers and, all the world that Christ laid His life down, reminding you Jesus was fully man and God and, could have brought down the army of heaven to deliver Him but He chose us instead!
The Body (church) sadly has forgotten His power and how marvelous His Spirit is! Two scriptures that the Lord through the Holy Spirit has been saying to me 2 Timothy 3:5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such as these! But also Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ. For the accuser of our brothers has been thrown down, he who accuses them day and night before our God.
We will never overcome the evil one, or in this verse, he is named the accuser of the brethren, without the power of The Holy Spirit. If we refuse to be disciplined and trained up by the Holy Spirit, then the accuser of the brethren does just that he accuses and spur’s accusations, and he is doing it wildly through the body of Christ. The enemy has taken the believer’s captive in the net of unbelief and complacency that even if the Holy Spirit was to be poured out upon the body would we identify it being from God or the enemy? Or are we so worried about what we want to do that we have become veiled by our flesh? I can only answer for myself, and I know I need to strengthen my walk and relationship with Christ.
I am praying for the Body not to fall into the snare of being used not only to accuse the brethren but to lead God’s people captive in their understanding of God.Look that position is filled by Satan that is what he does and prompt’s people to do. If we are to rebuke another, we are to do it gently and with great love and compassion, lest we fall into the same snare ourselves. We must walk every day in Spirit (The HOLY SPIRIT) and in Truth (THE WORD OF GOD) if we fail to do so we stifle the Spirit, and without the Spirit, we can not hear, see, or use our spiritual gifts. I am asking God to cover this message with grace and truth.
Lord, let the hearts and souls that need this challenging subject to see and receive it. Lord, strengthen our churches in the knowledge of the Holy Spirit and also the knowledge of your Word the only truth there is and ever will be. Lord, may these words bring glory and honor to You! You gave them to me and may they return to You with a harvest. Lord, inspire and make our Pastor’s capable and mighty. Lord, we ask that you would give them a double portion of your anointing and pour your spirit without measure upon us all. Lord, the days are evil, and I fear that most are flexing under the pressure of standing on your truth. Lord, renew in us a greater knowledge and understanding of your word and enable us through your Spirit to carry out what you have set before us. In Jesus Mighty and Powerful name, I bring these requests to You. Amen.
If we continue down this path, I do reverently fear that many will fall away from the faith because they do not know who are God truly is because of the lack of teaching in the church. Reminds me of Paul’s reminder to Timothy talking about Hymenaeus and Philetus teaching that the resurrection had already passed, their opinions got them to deviate from the truth and led many away. You can find this in 2 Timothy 2:17-18 See we can innocently be led by our flesh to navigate our opinions instead of God’s truth. We must be careful and diligent to be trusted with the gospel and entrusted to teach the fullness to the next generation. “See our deception can lead to the inception of innocents.” or as Paul say’s carnal Christian’s which are just babies in Christ meaning they can only handle small feedings of the word of God. We were never supposed to stay in this state. Unfortunately, carnal Christians often in today’s church never turn into mature Christian’s, and that leads to disease and decay of truth being spoken. It’s not a time to be far away from the Lord if you are good news is you have a Bible, and you have a mouth please ask Him to show you and, help you to understand. He is faithful to show me; I know He will be faithful to show you as well.
“See our deception can lead to the inception of innocent ones.”
In 1 Samuel 17 we read about David and Goliath, what actually just came straight off the page to me was 1 Samuel 17:28 Eliab, David’s oldest brother. Eliab’s anger grew toward David when he heard what David had said to the others.
David had boldly said in verse above Who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?
David was stating why should we fear a man that is not in covenant with Elohim Hayyrim (the living God) Eliab even went on to say he knew David’s prideful and disrespectful bold heart is what brought him from the sheep fields to say this. David’s response to Eliab was “Is there not a cause?”
What I really got from this scripture is that even your own family or even the family of God will be used by the enemy to discourage, hurt, and minimize you and your calling. Don’t be surprised. Some of my greatest giants have not been Goliath’s (enemy) but have been right in and through the family of God or people who are in relationships with me (Eliab’s). When this happens, remember David’s response in verse 29 and then action 1 Samuel 17:30 Then he turned from him toward another and said the same thing; and these people answered him as the first ones did.
See sometimes you have to just have to meet your Eliab with a question. Is there not a cause? Then turn from them and toward the calling Jesus has for you, proclaiming Jesus’s gospel and making disciples. They do not understand the training and grooming that has taken place in the field of faith. There will always be the accusers of the brethren. But remember just as David was in the shepherd’s field. God sent a Bear and a Lion for David to slay and retrieve the lamb’s from their mouth’s to train David in courage and strength so he would one day throw a stone in a slingshot that would slay a 9-foot giant and defeat the enemy. So if you find yourself up against a 9-foot giant reflect on the field of faith and what you have learned in those experiences. Were you not victorious? Has God not prepared you already? Why are you still standing there, throw that stone (request) in that slingshot (prayer) and watch that Goliath (enemy) fall to his defeat! Move on into your calling and take what God has called you too even if you do run into some Eliab’s on the way 😉 you can do it! We have the living God on our side! Praise God!
Lord, you have equipped me to take down my Goliath! You have trained and prepared me so that I will be full of courage and strength! Lord, who dares to defy the Living God by standing in your way? Who questions the Lord when He has chosen? Thank you, Lord, for speaking to this wandering heart and giving me faith to push! All glory and honor are yours, Father! In Jesus Name Amen!
Today, I want to speak directly to the servants of Jesus Christ our King and Savior. I want you to know that He has sent you to extend His kindness, mercy, and grace. Even to a hostile people. Jesus spoke to me this morning through the word of God, and this is what He showed me through this passage of scripture. We will be taking apart 2 Samuel chapter 10.
First to just give you some background I would like you to know who the Ammonites were and where exactly their history and culture was. This always helps me in my study and helps me get the picture of the scene God is painting here. Ammonites were descendants of Ben-Ammi which is a son of Lot ( Gen. 19:38). The Ammonites were also an idolatrous nation, and their chief idol was Moloch which was a god that they sacrificed their children into the fire for this idol. In 1 Kings 11:5-7 we see King Solomon was led by his foreign wives to worship Milcom another name for Moloch. The Bible also mention’s this offense again in 2 Kings 23:13. The name Ammonites means “son of my people,” “children of my people,” which the Israelite’s would understand or say to them as that they are relatives and avoid conflict with them. (Deuteronomy 2:19). Their land was already given to them as God provided, so the Israelite’s knew not to engage in war with them because they were related as they were descendants of Lot, Abraham’s nephew. Their land was east of the Jordan river.
Now with this information, we can see that this nation had totally fallen away from God and were now worshiping other gods.
To get back to the scripture that we are looking at we see in 2 Samuel 10 that Hanun’s father who was the king of Ammon had just passed away. King David was sending a group of men that were very honorable men of King David. These men had noble and honorable intentions as servants of the King. They were simply going to represent the kindness, mercy, and grace for King David to Hanun during the loss of his father Nahash, just as his father showed kindness to King David. Hanun’s name even means gracious which is quite ironic because that is the last thing he showed to King David’s men. We see further down in verse 3 that the leaders said to Hanun “Just because David sent men with condolences for you, do you believe he’s showing you respect for your father? Instead, David has sent these men to scout out the city, spy on it, and demolish it? I would like to input here that what dwells in the heart, is in the mind and what is in the mind comes out of the mouth. You see they were suspicious and evil in their thinking because that is what dwells in their hearts. See they were already at war with King David in their hearts they just needed an opportunity to pounce and devise a poorly thought out plan of attack on the King’s servants.
In verse 4 we see Hanun take the noble servants of King David and shave half their beards, and cut their clothes to expose their private parts to humiliate them and send a clear message to the King. See in shaving half their beards off it would not only make them look ridiculous but they would be in violation of the law (Lev. 19:27), as they would look as if they were mourning (Isaiah 15:2, Jer.41:5) see their actions were clearly speaking we will return your kindness for war (we will humiliate you for your kindness).
King David when he heard of this, he sent someone to the servants and told them to stay in Jericho until their beards grew back normal and they could be restored back. What an awesome King! We have that in our King Jesus when His servants have been sent to extend His kindness, mercy, and grace, and they are humiliated and mocked even scorned. He is faithful to send someone (Holy Spirit) to comfort us and to hide us away until we can be restored. Not just that but King David immediately sent Joab his commander to engage the Ammonites in battle. See just like King David; Jesus recognizes the threat that they meant to humiliate you but He will seek justice for you and will turn what was intended to harm you into good. I can imagine Jesus saying “Gabriel! Go help my servant they have been humiliated and hurt, lead them to safety.” Jesus might have to set you in Jericho (waiting) for a while so that your “beard” (confidence) will grow back and others will not mock you or humiliate you further, but He will restore you back into your role as an honorable servant and seek justice for your humiliation.
See the issue here was they were at war with the King, not the servants they took it out on the servants, but they were saying something much more with their intent saying that they would reject the kindness of David, and they are at war. Sometimes we can be in situations just like King David’s men and have to endure shame and mocking because we are doing what the King sent us to do. God see’s the humiliation/mourning and He also see’s that you were left in shame but He promises there is a day where everything will be brought to justice, and the King has sent someone to comfort us and take away our guilt until the time is right to be restored to our rightful place in His Kingdom. That man is Jesus Christ. I pray this gives other servants of Christ encouragement today knowing that when we do what He asks and we serve him even through the humiliation that He will restore us back, and He will seek justice for us.
God see’s and God know’s never forget that He knows your shame and still loves you and still has a place for you in this earth and heaven to serve! Has your beard grown in? Is it time to return to the King? Leave Jericho and be with Your King again. Knowing that He is sending you again and again to display the kindness, grace, and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, our King, and Mighty Savior. Don’t lose hope! Don’t allow the enemies attack to render you helpless get back up and fight the good fight and know that you belong to The King of Kings!! I am praying for the servants of Christ, and I know that we endure for Jesus our King, but there is no other King I would serve or love because He is so good and kind and loving, most of all my, all in all, my everything!
Somebody asked me if I thought time changes a relationship! I had to think for a while. I think it can if we let it, but no I don’t think time changes any relationship. I think people change relationships with assumptions and feelings. If the heart is in it, then it will last. If the heart lets’s go, then the mind lets go, then the soul lets’s go then it wither’s! Love makes a relationship last, time just test’s a relationship. It takes two to communicate. You decide! You chose. I pray we don’t throw out relationships because of what we feel, but I pray we stay in long-suffering in our relationships. This might be the biggest challenge God has given me! See, I tend to be a guarded fortress when I “feel” uncomfortable. That’s not the mind of Christ or the heart of Christ! That is not healthy, and it surely is not serving anyone but old faithful misery. There are times that I get disappointed, hurt, angry, sad, depressed, happy, silly, embarrassed, humiliated in relationships; we all do, there are things we would take back in a blink of an eye because we know the outcome, and we want to avoid it at all cost! There are times that I would go back and say this better or do that this way, but we do not have that option. We have right now to be gentle with one another. We can choose to look at the bigger picture in a person’s life and understand that they are just as broken and hurting as we are. The Lord can give us compassion and will freely give us if we ask. I pray that each of us gives and bless someone else today. That we can see past the mess and see a person that is just as broken and bruised as I am. Listen, if God has called you to be a beautiful friend to someone do it with the excellence of Christ. If God has given you, a companion love them like Christ loved the church! If God gave you any relationship, then let that relationship bring glory and honor to Him! The enemy loves nothing more to divide and bring strife. He gave it all so we all could have Him but he also gave it all so that we would be a kingdom family one day. So choosing today to take my advice I am purposing my mind on heavenly things. ( Colossians 3:2). I want to fill the void of my heart with the love of Jesus Christ ( Ephesians 2:4-5) But God, being rich in mercy, because of the vast love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved—
I purpose in my mind, heart and soul that 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; In relationships we need to understand that there is only one that was ever meant to fill us when we are dry and wandering in the desert. I choose to purpose my mind when I feel like I am in the wilderness that He will never leave me nor forsake me. That is the only thing that has kept me going through my life. I pray that He is what pushes you forward too! If not would you please open your heart to the great love and grace and mercy God has planned for you. That perfect grace, mercy, and salvation came from His throne in Heaven made Himself flesh and fellowship with humanity so that He could become sin and take it away from humankind so that we could be restored back to the Father! He bore every curse/sin mentally, physically, spiritually so that we could be with Him forever. And He declared that on the third day when He rose from the tomb! What a mighty God we serve and such love flows from the living water! I pray with all my heart that you know that love! That you purpose the Word of God over your mind, heart, and soul. Lord, we praise you! In your mighty and holy name, Jesus let this be a balm to a hurting heart! Lord your word never goes out void! Thank you, Jesus! Amen
9 Let love be without hypocrisy, Abhor what is evil, Cling to what is good.
I am focusing on this verse today. Simply because I need to be reminded of what to cling onto this morning.
I found myself feeling so overwhelmed for no apparent reason. My life is not falling apart. I kept asking myself ” Why do I feel so beat down, and like a failure? “Why am I angry and upset over things that are out of my control?” ” Why am I allowing my mind to go over failing moments over and over?” I heard a still small voice say ” Pray!”. So, I did; A product of what wisdom and instruction that came out of that prayer this morning. I want to share.
I will jump right into verse and break it down. I am using Strong’s Greek and Hebrew concordance also Nelson’s Bible Dictionary, along with Bible Knowledge Commentary.
First, I would like to point out that the word love in verse 9 is the Greek word agape Strongs’s number 26. Which the definition is properly love, to prefer, divine love, benevolence, good will, esteem. So we can translate verse into Let love (divine love, proper love, good will, esteem, charity, to prefer). So Paul is saying let our love be shown as Christ’s divine love (agape).
The second Greek word I would like to point out is without hypocrisy (anupokritos) Strong’s number 505 here is the definition to act without hypocrisy, to act rightly or accordingly, not a phony (put on), describing sincere free from hidden agenda’s and without selfish motives. (Genuine). So Paul is instructing us to act this way directly.
The third Greek word that is in the Strong’s concordance is Abhor this is reference number 655. This Greek word is (apostugeó) the form in this scripture is a verb, So we know that a verb is an action, so we are to take action by detecting evil, hating the sin, our sincere hating of evil (intent). So again Paul is giving us insight and instruction on where our minds, hearts, and souls should be. Also, what is pleasing and acceptable to God.
The fourth Greek word used is evil. This is Strong’s reference number 4190. The Greek word is ponéros, This word means (an adjective which is also used substantively, derived from 4192 /pónos, “pain, severe trouble”) – properly, pain-ridden, emphasizing the inevitable agonies (misery) that always go with evil. What stood out to me is highlighting the inevitable (pain) that goes with evil. Isn’t that the truth! Especially when we emphasize suffering! We focus on the times we have stumbled and created anxiety within ourselves. Whether that be through thought, the enemy whispered, or just our flesh!
The fifth Greek word used in this verse is Cling (reference number in Strong’s is 2853) (kollaó) again we see the form as a verb so, Paul again is telling us to cling actively. So, we need with action to adhere (I sense you might not be getting the action part) I mean read the word, But not just read apply, Pray, Choose purposely to obey God’s word. The definition is (I glue) I join myself firmly, cleave, adhere, I keep company with, of friendly intercourse. So Paul is also saying to stay close to Jesus, He is the way, the truth, the light. (relationship).
The sixth and final Greek word used in this verse is good.
Reference number 18. The Greek word is agathos. The definition of this word is intrinsically good, good in nature, good whether it be seen to be so or not, the widest and most colorless of all words with this meaning. Using Help word studies, I found this definition to be helpful with the context of agathós – inherently (intrinsically) right; as to the believer, (agathós) describes what originates from God and is empowered by Him in their life, through faith. So again Paul was instructing us through faith and trust in God that even when it does not look confident or even when it looks desolate. We have faith and assurance that whatever trial or tribulation we are enduring that God has allowed it to build and grow our faith! So we cling to what is good which is the living God, no matter what season we are in! We are to remain and behave like a child of God. Don’t let a season define your whole relationship with God. Focus on the times that God has provided, delivered, blessed us. Stop focusing on the lows and creating misery within your heart, spirit, and mind. Remember, at these times to cling to Jesus, To hate evil, To love like Christ!
I love you guys! I pray and hope that the Holy Spirit would give you wisdom and love today. To let you know that He see’s your fight! He see’s and acknowledges your tears, pain, and suffering. I will leave you with this one of my favorite scriptures.
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
In Jesus Mighty and Saving name Amen, Friends!
Go Ahead! Write it on whatever you can to remind yourself that no matter what we can not compare our sufferings to what He is doing inside of our hearts!!! You are beautiful and precious; you are being renewed for a purpose! Lift your head up!
