Perplexed, but not driven to despair

Righteous are you, O Lord, when I complain to you; yet I would plead my case before you. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all who are treacherous thrive? You plant them, and they take root; they grow and produce fruit; you are near in their mouth and far from their heart.
Jeremiah 12:1‭-‬2 ESV

Jeremiah is asking the Lord some bold questions here in verses 1-4. Jeremiah has just learned that the men of Anathoth, Jeremiah’s hometown (Jer. 1:1) schemed to have him killed. They ordered him not to prophesy, or he would die by their hands. Just wanted you to understand Jeremiah’s state of mind and how brokenhearted he must have been.

I don’t know about you, but anytime any form of persecution comes whether it’s rejection or the most severe cases giving our life to follow Christ. I believe it still hurts the worst when it comes from your community, friends or family.
It seems that our enemy loves to stir up those in a community against each other. I believe every single snare or pit that is dug for the body is to get us to pick each other apart to the bone. Sometimes we do it innocently, and I have done it. I know we all have. I believe once we know and see it, we can change it, of course through The Holy Spirit.

I suppose I am more tender to it because I am in a calling of my own that the enemy loves to persecute me whenever he gets the chance. That is a part of the territory and believe me the Lord is and has brought this tender-hearted girl long ways. I would do it over and over a thousand times over, because persecution keeps you humble, full of humility, and honest in front of the Lord, in my opinion. I believe that is why in the book of James it says during various trials and tribulations count it as joy! It is refining your faith.

So, Jeremiah is complaining to the Lord why does he allow this to happen! Then he says, Lord! You know me, you have seen me, you have tested my heart toward you (Verse 3).

So he went from complaining to pity party in a matter of seconds! We do the same thing. We feel like everything is wrong, when in fact God is strengthening us. It is okay! It’s our flesh dying! It is not ever going to feel good.

I love verse five which caught my eye because in Hebrew five means grace. How fitting! His grace is sufficient. Here is God’s reply to Jeremiah (Jer. 12:5)

“If you have run with the footman, and they have wearied you, Then how can you contend with horses? And if in the land of peace, In which you trusted, they wearied you, Then how will you do in the floodplain of the Jordan? For even your brothers, the house of your father. Even they have dealt treacherously with you; Yes, they called a multitude after you. Do not believe them, Even though they speak smooth words to you.

Last thought, when you are following Jesus, and He has called you to something that even leaves you with your mouth wide open. Don’t be thrown for a loop when the enemy of our souls stirs up persecution. Unfortunately, he will, but down deep in your soul know this. No matter what remember that God is allowing it to happen to purify your faith. He is allowing hard situations to test your heart toward Him; He is strengthening you spiritually so you will be able to run against the horses of our enemy. We are warrior’s, and we have to be cross-trained. Remember that we do not wrestle against people, but we fight against our enemy Satan. Eph. 6

Hearing the Heart

I think the worst downfall for me is a transition. I mean really how much of us like drastic changes? I know for me I fight with all that I have and the funny thing is I always end up loving the difference. That is where I am currently, right smack dab in the middle of hard change. ( I am sighing at this moment whispering. It is, what it is.) One of my commentaries said: ” Sighing is just groan for home, a cry for redemption.”

Psalm 38:9 ESV

O Lord, all my longing is before you; my sighing is not hidden from you.

Even my subtle sigh is heard, nothing missed by the sovereign ears of God. There is great comfort in that for us today. That we would be understood by the creator of life, acknowledged by the lifter of our head’s. It seems when I am tossed around in the waves my heart goes directly to the Psalms, such practical and heartfelt cries to the Lord.  That He not only hears my physical cries, but even more, He actually listens and knows the ache of the heart like a melody.

Psalm 139:3-4 TPT ( Passion Translation)

You are so intimately aware of me, Lord. You read my heart like an open book and you know all the words I’m about to speak before I even start a sentence! You know every step I will take before my journey even begins.

I am reminded to give Him the invitation to search my heart throughout my life. Not just while the ache is the loudest, but when the ache is dull. Continually search and know my heart, Lord.

Psalm 139:23 TPT (Passion Translation)

God, I invite your searching gaze into my heart. Examine me through and through; find out everything that may be hidden within me. Put me to the test and sift through all my anxious cares.

I invite you today, maybe if you are in the middle of rough transition and your heart is just aching. I merely want to remind you we are all on a journey. A journey with God through this life into the next. A mission is often long and challenging, but it is worth every step. Don’t give up now! Just because you are on the beginning of a new path doesn’t mean that He is not with you. The route could be dark with a blanket of dense fog appearing, but what gives illumination is the beautiful unfolding of His word. It will cast light on the next step. Hang in there, keep praying, keeping reading your Bible, most of all keep worshiping through the transition there is power in His presence.

Psalm 119:130 ESV

The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.

This simple truth sets an aching heart upright and redirects us right back into the loving gaze of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Or you can read it right here…

To my sisters who are struggling to see your place at the table:

You have a seat, don’t ever think for a second there is no room at the mighty table of God for you. You were created mindfully by the Creator.

Women are relevant

We have gifts, Jesus can give us insight, Jesus can use us mightily if we surrender and do our homework (study the Bible).

Romans 16 (study it)

Anyone who says women don’t have a place beside our brothers well they have been mistaken. There are so many scriptures that suggest women weren’t just used for ” womanly duties” The women listed in this whole chapter were the exact opposite of the weak-willed woman in 2 Timothy 3:6-9, not all women are easily trapped, some of us know the truth and boldly proclaim it. We get to choose whether or not we will be weak-willed or not. Jesus died for that choice for us. I’m grateful for that, I’m thankful for the truth, so we know who we are in Him. No one can ever take that away. No one. If Jesus is calling you, ladies don’t shrink back from it, embrace it. It won’t be easy, He never promised us that, but it will be worth it. God had purposes for us when He formed us in our Mother’s womb.

Listen, single ladies, it’s okay never to get married! Some of us are not called to marriage. There is nothing wrong with you, your not ugly, your not defective, your not Weird! You are who He has developed you to be. Embrace that!

Married women your ministry is your family but you can serve outside of that if God is calling you, he will give you the strength, wisdom and knowledge/ understanding. He will balance you so that you can do all things through Christ Jesus.

To my divorced sisters regardless of your feelings, you are worthy because Jesus blood made you righteous. No sin is too high for the blood of Jesus to wash away, it is covered sister, it has been paid for by the King. You have been called by Jesus, never let that leave your heart.

We are not disqualified by our brokenness we are equipped by it to minister to those who have felt the same sting, the same heaviness. We all are called to minister to brokenness by brokenness.

Never think for a second that what you think is a weakness disqualifies you. That’s just not true 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
2 Corinthians 12:9‭-‬10 NIV

When I am weak, then I am strong!!! When I don’t have what it takes, then I am in position for God’s presence to rest upon me and through me! We can be our own worst enemies, we can discredit ourselves before we even allow God to fully show us what purpose He has for us to serve Him with. Every season of our lives will have a different use. Don’t despise these small beginnings.

Wild Rose

pexels-photo-537053.jpeg

Last Saturday while moving a section of fence on our property I noticed that there was this wild rose bush. We have tried to kill the thing numerous amount of times. Just because it was growing in an inconvenient spot, the spot is right at the corner post of our fencing. What kind of fencing you ask well it is electric fencing for horses. You see the issue? It would eventually grow so big that it would ground out the current and render the fence useless.

So, as we removed the corner post and I saw this one small thorny green branch and thought, How in the world could you take all that uprooting and hacking and not die? Figuring that I would come out the next day and find it dead as a doornail.  That is not what I found to my surprise I found the wild rose bush doing just fine. As I looked at it again, I said: “Well, if you made it through THAT! Then grow little rose bush! In my books that one little stem deserved to grow!

As I stared down at this little thorny stem, I heard Jesus say to my heart, ” Kinda like you!” I giggled back and said in my heart ” I guess so, Lord.”  I looked back down and realized this little green, prickly, stem was a whole lot like me. Since Saturday I have been thinking about what Jesus said to me. I haven’t been able to get it off my mind. So I decided to look up all I could find about a wild rose bush. I mean who could blame me if Jesus is comparing me to it, I want to know the good, bad and the ugly!

I learned that a wild rose bush only blooms one time a year, those blooms typically only have five petals. The flowers are simple but stunning. Just like those rose bushes, we flourish in season. I love that these roses only have five petals, the number five represents grace in Hebrew.  It is the grace of God we bloom at all.

I also learned that these rose bushes are where we get all roses from. They are a completely original, you and I are original; there will never be another human like us.

1 Corinthians 12:25-28 English Standard Version (ESV)

25 that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. 26 If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.27 Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. 28 And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues.

In Verse 27 Now you are the body of Christ and individual members, you are original. Even though wild rose bushes can vary from white to pink, there are a million different hues, and each one is unique. We are all different, we have had different situations to create pigment in us. Those situations and circumstance are used to develop our personalities, they are what gives us our shade of color.

A wild rose doesn’t control its color or where it is placed, all the rose does is grow and wait to bloom.

I found out through my research that wild roses thrive on neglect and are exceptionally hardy, they can grow in poor soil, wet soil, good soil. How many times do people, jobs, friends neglect us but we have come to the understanding that even in the worse case scenarios our God never forsakes us. This makes us emotionally hardy to handle relationships, circumstances, loss and gain, sickness and health. I look at this beginning of a wild rose bush and realize that it is in rocky soil has been cut and abused. It has taken all that, and the little stem keeps coming back waiting to bloom. It has a purpose, it has roots deep down in the rocky soil.  Just like this wild shrub we are all planted in different lands, pastures, in dry places, in soaking wet areas, in urban and rural locations. We might not even like the places we are, but we are still there no matter how many times someone has taken a swipe and widdled us down to a nub. We always come back knowing that one day we will bloom and complete our purpose. In His timing and for His glory.

Amos 9:15

I will plant them on their land, and they shall never again be uprooted out of the land that I have given them,” says the LORD your God.

You and I are planted purposefully and will not be uprooted out of the land that God has set us in. We don’t have to understand everything to remain. Once a wild rose bush is allowed to reach it’s full potential and blooms it not only is uniquely beautiful, but it leaves something vital behind, rose hips. These rose hips carry over into the winter months providing food for the birds.

Matthew 6:26 ESV

Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

Psalm 50:11 ESV
I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine.

Every single bird, hill, and field is His. He knows exactly the time to allow us to bloom so that we can feed those around us. That our lives in full bloom leave necessary provisions for others to come and feed off of while in a winter season. A beautiful picture painted by God himself, that while we are growing. While God is sending the rain, sun, the wind.  Every single branch, stem, leaf, every bud we are strategically positioned to open and display His glorious grace. This grace was intended to give life to a searching heart, and a hungry soul that see’s the grace of God in the wild rose bush. In a God who purposed such a beautiful bloom to provide food for another soul.

Not for a second does the Father not see how many times we have been cut down, trampled, misused, abused, forgotten, weed-ridden, planted in poor soil, and neglected we have grown through it all, by the grace of God. We have grit and tenacity that only comes from the Holy Spirit.  I see now why Jesus said we were like wild rose bushes, growing in a pasture in a fence row, in poor conditions, in poor soil. We are hardy and exceptionally resilient.

No matter what comes, I am determined to bloom where I am planted so that my blooms will one day feed a hungry little bird searching for food. I want to be the vessel that God uses for that task. I am reminded more than ever when I am weak, I am strong. My current sufferings are not worth comparing to the glory in Christ Jesus that one day my face will behold.

Romans 8:18 ESV

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

2 Corinthians 12:9

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Grace then Faith

Divine order

Saved by Grace: Unmerited favor of God (You can’t earn it, You can’t boast about it, It is given to every human being on this earth.

Ephesians 2:8-9

8 For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

Titus 3:5
He saved us, not by the righteous deeds we had done, but according to His mercy, through the washing of new birth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.

2 Timothy 1:9
He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not because of our own works, but by His own purpose and by the grace He granted us in Christ Jesus before time eternal.

The grace that God extended toward us through Jesus our Savior. Jesus died for all our sin past, present, future (ALL SIN) He was buried in a tomb, and God raised Him from the grave proclaiming victory.

Faith comes after we experience God’s grace we receive faith by hearing the gospel of grace and by all of the word of God. Old and New Testament.

Romans 10:17 – So then faith [cometh] by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

We can not please God without faith. We can only seek Him through the Word.

Hebrews 11:6 – But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Grace and Faith combined gives us Hope in ( Jesus Christ, Yeshua, The Cornerstone)

Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

This is the divine order that God established. We often try to have faith before we accept God’s grace, and it will not work in that order. We have to agree on the gift of God’s grace. The gift of God, His son Jesus, to understand that we are forgiven of all sin through Christ Jesus. All past, present, future sin, and all of the sin of the world!! We’re sinners we sin, Jesus Christ saves! He is the Savior. He is the only one perfect and blameless. I pray we take ahold of grace and then our faith increases. We live out our faith through pure grace. It is the grace of God that holds us together.

When we have a grasp on God’s grace, it propels our faith and keeps us running to Jesus through relationship. We have no terror of the wrath of God because we have been washed clean and forgiven by the blood of Jesus. We have a reverent respect and relationship with Jesus. Now when God the Father looks upon us, He see’s Jesus, the son in whom He is well pleased with. That is freedom, that is grace, that is mercy and love everlasting. That is wonderful; that is Jesus Christ.grace.jpg

The Way, The Truth, and the Light of this World

Placeholder Image

This verse was really on my mind this morning!! So much I needed to re-read it! I knew that there was a treasure there that I needed to find! So, this is what I found! I pray, it blesses you as much as it blessed me. Gave me an entirely new perspective on one of the most quoted verses in Christianity!

John 3:16-21 HSCB

For God so loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God. 19 “This, then, is the judgment: The light has come into the world, and people loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone who practices wicked things hates the light and avoids it, so that his deeds may not be exposed. 21 But anyone who lives by the truth comes to light, so that his works may be shown to be accomplished by God.”

What a beautiful love and promise we have in believing upon the name of Jesus Christ. I would like to start off by stating that in this verse we do see the genuine love of our God! God’s motivation for people is love. God’s love is not limited to a few or one group of individuals, but His gift is for the whole world. I would like to go over verse 16. We all know so very well. I was focused on another translation that used sent instead of gave and I just was not satisfied with the word sent. We are aware it was more than sent! So, I concentrated on another version. I came upon gave so, I looked up gave in the Greek Lexical Aid also in the Strong’s Concordance, and this is what I found reference number #1325 in Strong’s edoken (he gave) which led me to dídōmi the transliteration of edoken. The Definition which I read several times because a lot of words stood out to me. Here is the Strong’s Definition dídōmi

A prolonged form of a primary verb (which is used as an alternate in most of the tenses); to give (used in a very wide application, properly or by implication, literally or figuratively; greatly modified by the connection): – adventure, bestow, bring forth, commit, deliver (up), give, grant, hinder, make, minister, number, offer, have power, put, receive, set, shew, smite (+ with the hand), strike (+ with the palm of the hand), suffer, take, utter, yield.

So in Strong’s it also gives you equivalent Hebrew words and there were a lot, but I just read yârad

Strong’s Definition of yârad

A primitive root; to descend (literally to go downwards; or conventionally to a lower region, as the shore, a boundary, the enemy, etc.; or figuratively to fall); causatively to bring down (in all the above applications): – X abundantly, bring down, carry down, cast down, (cause to) come (-ing) down, fall (down), get down, go (-ing) down (-ward), hang down, X indeed, let down, light (down), put down (off), (cause to, let) run down, sink, subdue, take down

I also want to share with you the Brown-Drivers-Brigg’s Definition
to go down, descend, decline, march down, sink down

(Qal)
to go or come down
to sink
to be prostrated
to come down (to revelation)
(Hiphil)
to bring down
to send down
to take down
to lay prostrate
to let down
(Hophal)
to be brought down
to be taken down

Amazing! When you think about what God did to save us; I heard a story on the radio yesterday it was a talk show about witnessing might have even been a podcast I turned on. The man that was speaking was giving a testimony about being a young Christian. Not knowing every scripture God still enabling him through the Holy Spirit.

So the story goes there was a store that he went to every day. The clerk and this man started talking to one another. One thing leads to another, and he decided to start witnessing to the clerk. The clerk responded:

“I mean if I knew I was going to be resurrected in three days, I would willingly die! I mean how is that doing anything for us!”

The young Christian man was perplexed and bothered by the clerk’s response. He hung his head and left the store puzzled at where he went wrong. The next day the young Christian went back to the store as usual and noticed a sign in the window saying: LIVE BAIT SOLD INSIDE!

The young Christian walked in and approached the clerk again started a conversation and asked to buy some live bait. The clerk walked over to the live bait picked up a tub of earthworms. The young Christian man opened the lid and looked at the worms and said to the clerk:

“You see these worms?” “What if these worms were diseased and dying? Would you become a worm and crawl around with them? What if your coming would save them from illness and death?”

The clerk responded:

“NOOO, Why would I ever want to be a worm! There a dime a dozen; just throw them out and replace them!”

The young Christian replied:

” Well that is what Christ did when He descended from heaven to dwell with us in complete human flesh upon earth; Jesus willingly died upon the cross and in doing so took upon all  disease, curses, condemnation (sin) and defeated it for you and I. Making a way to heaven for every person who will believe. Not only that ,but also that Jesus came so that nothing could ever come and infect us again once we believe through Jesus’ Spirit. Which is the Holy Spirit of God and the only way the Holy Spirit could come is if Jesus arose and ascended in heaven seated at the right hand side of the Father! “

The clerk gazed at the young man leaving him speechless. Think about it for a moment would you be willing to do that?

No matter who or what you are; in the eyes of God. You are the reason He was given you are priceless. That you would never have to endure the punishment of hell which is eternal separation from The Creator. God did not create Hell to send you there; He created Hell for Satan and his evil angels that followed Satan in rebellion against God. Hell was never meant for you or me!  It was set up for Satan’s rebellion. God had to protect us against the evil one. God’s plan of redemption was always through the blood of Jesus Christ; His one and only son. Jesus is the only way to be restored in fact; it is a choice we make to believe or not to believe. I pray that you believe, because even if you don’t know that Jesus is fighting for your attention and will continually pursue you! Read the verses I placed up top the entirety of John 3:16-21 it is truly a treasure in the Holy Bible! Cry out to Jesus. He will come running with arms opened wide! He loves you beyond measure! If you have read this and wanted to know  Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, it is simple all you have to do is say….

” Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God, fully God and fully man at the same time. I believe you took on the sin of the world and my sin to have me. I am a sinner Lord, and I need your given sacrifice Jesus Christ to forgive my sin and to turn me away from my rebellion against God; I believe on the third day you arose from the grave declaring victory! I give you my life and heart always. I ask that you would come and live within me, Lord. In Jesus mighty name Amen!”

If you said a prayer like that would you let me or someone know, the Bible says that the angels of God are rejoicing as a soul submits to the Holy Spirit pursuit of salvation

Luke 15:10 10In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents.”

I pray if you did say that prayer that you would find a local church that believes in the Bible. I pray that Jesus would guide and lead you right where you need to be. I also would love to send you a Bible! It would be my honor to serve you and pray with and for you! Also if you are a believer in Christ and you feel led to share this with someone that may not know Christ, I would be grateful and thankful that you are helping spread the love and grace of Jesus Christ.

Secret’s Old and New

father-and-child-hands

God always, always. ALWAYS has a timing for every individual! I am not talking about just in big things. I am talking even in the small things that we don’t think measure up to a hill of beans! At that moment divine intervention is happening, and someone needs to hear what God has laid on your heart. There is always a reason, and more often than not we are totally clueless!! I pray today that you will take the time to meditate in and on the Father!! You are precious, and you are sealed with His Holy Spirit!

Let me for a moment just say something to you a child of God! You are a fulfillment of scripture. You are a part of a covenant of old and new now that you have received Christ as the risen Savior! If you believe God sent His son to take the full wrath of God so, that we can be restored to our Heavenly Father. Jesus arose three days later defeating sin and in the second coming bringing justice and, doing away with death once and for all and the enemy; if you profess with your mouth and believe in your heart, soul, and mind, then you my friend are a spiritual son or daughter of the Living God. Like Abraham believing God (faith). God credited Abraham for righteousness! (Galatians 3:6-9)

Like Abraham believing God (faith). God credited Abraham for righteousness! (Galatians 3:6-9) So, you by finding God (faith) through the Son of God Jesus, and Jesus being the Messiah fully man while being fully God then you are a part of the ongoing fulfilment of the promise (covenant) with Abraham, and you are also most importantly under the new covenant of Jesus Christ!! Can you see that you are justified through the blood of Jesus Christ? You are a part of the plan even in the old and now the new covenant!! Praise God for his plan to redeem all humankind!

Last note never let the enemy whisper deceit into your ear! The only way to combat the enemy is through God’s word! It is truth and if something you are thinking or speaking does not pass through the word of God then toss it out! If it does then cherish and gird yourself up; even if it hurts your flesh ask Jesus to help apply this scripture to your life whatever that may be! Paul says in Hebrews 12:5-13 even the Lords discipline is a blessing and a mark that we are His!! Praise Jesus even when He has to discipline me most of all but, also you too as a good father does!!

Loving and praying for you all!! Keep up the good work and keep on fighting and growing!!

His Steadfast Love Endures Forever

abc

Proverbs 19:22 tells us that we crave as human beings unfailing love and that no person can live up to that role (Proverbs 20:6). But there is an unfailing love that will fill the craving! It is god’s sake. We were designed to crave an unfailing love, by a God that is nothing but unfailing love. See we were created to find God and to be satisfied in His love. Psalm 136 has an overwhelming pattern that occurs. Some would say it screams it “For his steadfast love endures forever.” Praise God! Thank you, Lord, for your love never ends, it never leaves, it never is exhausted, it is honest, it is loyal, it never keeps a record of wrong doing, it never is puffed up or inflated, it is always constant. Sound familiar? Turn over to 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 yes the love chapter!! Our God’s love, agape love; this is the love that Proverbs 19:22 tells us that we crave and need so badly. God’s love is only found in Jesus Christ. The perfect love, the divine love the perfect love that 1 John 4:18 says perfect love drives out fear. Listen, this perfect love can never be severed when Jesus Christ is abiding in our hearts through the Holy Spirit. Just like Paul says in Romans 8:38-39 nothing can separate us from the love of God once we are His. We have a love that is steadfast and endures forever!! If you haven’t accepted Jesus as your Savior, please reflect on your need for unfailing love. Do you crave it? Do you find yourself seeking to find an everlasting stable love? If you do friend, can I tell you that you will not find it in another human or object, but you will find it in the arms of Grace, Christ Jesus! Would that make you cry out to Him today? Would you believe and profess Christ as the Messiah, The Savior of the World, The Son of God that died took the wrath of God upon Himself? For our sins and rose again and ascended into heaven to take His rightful place at the right hand of the Father and that one day soon is coming back to rule and reign as our King! If you cried out today I am praying for you I am praying you will find a local body of believers, and you would have a hunger for the Word of God. I pray you would join a local body of believers and profess to them that Jesus is Lord over your life and be baptized and serve God for the rest of your days. barefeet

I promise you this following Christ may not always be easy, and there will be days that you will fight for your faith, but His love endures forever, and He will keep you in His perfect love! You can always trust and know that! Just a short blog post today, but I feel that just meditating on “His steadfast love endures forever” is sometimes all we need to remind our souls that we are loved beyond measure. This life can be downright cruel, and what we need more than ever in this fallen world is the unfailing love of Jesus Christ.

Today, I want to speak directly to the servants of Jesus Christ our King and Savior. I want you to know that He has sent you to extend His kindness, mercy, and grace. Even to a hostile people. Jesus spoke to me this morning through the word of God, and this is what He showed me through this passage of scripture. We will be taking apart 2 Samuel chapter 10.

First to just give you some background I would like you to know who the Ammonites were and where exactly their history and culture was. This always helps me in my study and helps me get the picture of the scene God is painting here. Ammonites were descendants of Ben-Ammi which is a son of Lot ( Gen. 19:38). The Ammonites were also an idolatrous nation, and their chief idol was Moloch which was a god that they sacrificed their children into the fire for this idol. In 1 Kings 11:5-7 we see King Solomon was led by his foreign wives to worship Milcom another name for Moloch. The Bible also mention’s this offense again in 2 Kings 23:13. The name Ammonites means “son of my people,” “children of my people,” which the Israelite’s would understand or say to them as that they are relatives and avoid conflict with them. (Deuteronomy 2:19). Their land was already given to them as God provided, so the Israelite’s knew not to engage in war with them because they were related as they were descendants of Lot, Abraham’s nephew. Their land was east of the Jordan river.

Now with this information, we can see that this nation had totally fallen away from God and were now worshiping other gods.

Second_Book_of_Samuel_Chapter_10-2_(Bible_Illustrations_by_Sweet_Media)To get back to the scripture that we are looking at we see in 2 Samuel 10 that Hanun’s father who was the king of Ammon had just passed away. King David was sending a group of men that were very honorable men of King David. These men had noble and honorable intentions as servants of the King. They were simply going to represent the kindness, mercy, and grace for King David to Hanun during the loss of his father Nahash, just as his father showed kindness to King David. Hanun’s name even means gracious which is quite ironic because that is the last thing he showed to King David’s men. We see further down in verse 3 that the leaders said to Hanun “Just because David sent men with condolences for you, do you believe he’s showing you respect for your father? Instead, David has sent these men to scout out the city, spy on it, and demolish it? I would like to input here that what dwells in the heart, is in the mind and what is in the mind comes out of the mouth. You see they were suspicious and evil in their thinking because that is what dwells in their hearts. See they were already at war with King David in their hearts they just needed an opportunity to pounce and devise a poorly thought out plan of attack on the King’s servants.

004-david-ammonites.jpgIn verse 4 we see Hanun take the noble servants of King David and shave half their beards, and cut their clothes to expose their private parts to humiliate them and send a clear message to the King. See in shaving half their beards off it would not only make them look ridiculous but they would be in violation of the law (Lev. 19:27), as they would look as if they were mourning (Isaiah 15:2, Jer.41:5) see their actions were clearly speaking we will return your kindness for war (we will humiliate you for your kindness).

King David when he heard of this, he sent someone to the servants and told them to stay in Jericho until their beards grew back normal and they could be restored back. What an awesome King! We have that in our King Jesus when His servants have been sent to extend His kindness, mercy, and grace, and they are humiliated and mocked even scorned. He is faithful to send someone (Holy Spirit) to comfort us and to hide us away until we can be restored. Not just that but King David immediately sent Joab his commander to engage the Ammonites in battle. See just like King David; Jesus recognizes the threat that they meant to humiliate you but He will seek justice for you and will turn what was intended to harm you into good. I can imagine Jesus saying “Gabriel!  Go help my servant they have been humiliated and hurt, lead them to safety.” Jesus might have to set you in  Jericho (waiting) for a while so that your “beard” (confidence) will grow back and others will not mock you or humiliate you further, but He will restore you back into your role as an honorable servant and seek justice for your humiliation.

See the issue here was they were at war with the King, not the servants they took it out on the servants, but they were saying something much more with their intent saying that they would reject the kindness of  David, and they are at war. Sometimes we can be in situations just like King David’s men and have to endure shame and mocking because we are doing what the King sent us to do. God see’s the humiliation/mourning and He also see’s that you were left in shame but He promises there is a day where everything will be brought to justice, and the King has sent someone to comfort us and take away our guilt until the time is right to be restored to our rightful place in His Kingdom. That man is Jesus Christ. I pray this gives other servants of Christ encouragement today knowing that when we do what He asks and we serve him even through the humiliation that He will restore us back, and He will seek justice for us.

God see’s and God know’s never forget that He knows your shame and still loves you and still has a place for you in this earth and heaven to serve! Has your beard grown in? Is it time to return to the King? Leave Jericho and be with Your King again. Knowing that He is sending you again and again to display the kindness, grace, and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, our King, and Mighty Savior. Don’t lose hope! Don’t allow the enemies attack to render you helpless get back up and fight the good fight and know that you belong to The King of Kings!! I am praying for the servants of Christ, and I know that we endure for Jesus our King, but there is no other King I would serve or love because He is so good and kind and loving, most of all my, all in all, my everything!
